We are excited to share the inspiring journey of RTIS Network’s participation in the Erasmus+ ARTisGreen 2nd Transnational Meeting, held in the beautiful city of Aveiro, Portugal. Over the course of several days, our team engaged in a series of enriching activities, workshops, cultural explorations, and collaborative projects—all centered around the theme: “Creating Synergies in Art for Wellbeing and Inclusion.”

Day 1: Discovering Aveiro — The Venice of Portugal 🌍✨
Our adventure began with a memorable river boat tour on the stunning Ria de Aveiro, often called the “Venice of Portugal.” 🚤🌿 This vibrant 47-kilometer-long coastal lagoon, connecting the Vouga River to the Atlantic Ocean, is a captivating maze of canals, islands, and marshlands. Known for its colorful moliceiro boats, salt production, and birdwatching, the experience set a perfect tone for the week ahead.
RTIS members, together with the 4th Lyceum of Alimos, embraced the local culture and began building meaningful connections in this picturesque setting. We’re energized and eager for the inspiring days to come!

Day 2: Workshops & Strategic Planning 🎨📝
Day 2 was dedicated to impactful workshops focused on fostering inclusive education in the arts. Our team actively participated in:

“Inclusive Teaching Methods in Arts – The Development of Inclusive Pedagogical Practices”
“Part II: Practical Art-Based Activities”

These sessions provided hands-on techniques to promote diversity, inclusion, and accessibility. We also dedicated time to analyze recent changes in teaching strategies within our partnership and collaborated on developing our Inclusion and Diversity Plan, outlining actionable steps to embed inclusion into our future educational practices.
The energy and collaboration among participants reinforced our shared commitment to transforming arts education through innovative, inclusive approaches.

Day 3: Exploring Porto & Cultural Exchange 🌉🌇
On Day 3, our Greek delegation and partners traveled from Aveiro to Porto, Portugal’s vibrant city. We immersed ourselves in Porto’s rich history, architecture, and lively streets, strengthening our bonds through shared cultural experiences. This day of exploration fueled our inspiration and deepened our understanding of Portugal’s diverse cultural landscape.

Day 4 & 5: Showcasing Creativity & Celebrating Collaboration 🎭🎶
The final days culminated in a powerful artistic performance held at EB de Aradas in Aveiro, featuring inclusive, collaborative art projects created by students and educators. This event demonstrated how art can serve as a vital tool for wellbeing and inclusion, showcasing the transformative power of collective creativity.
Throughout the week, we also developed comprehensive plans to promote equity, accessibility, and diversity in arts education, reinforcing our dedication to fostering inclusive environments.

Looking Ahead
Our participation in the ARTisGreen project has been a truly enriching experience, reaffirming our passion for inclusive arts education and international collaboration. We thank all partners, students, and educators for their dedication and inspiring efforts.
Stay tuned as RTIS Network continues to implement these innovative practices, promote diversity, and create positive change in arts education across our institutions.
Together, we are creating a future where arts serve as a bridge to wellbeing, inclusion, and global understanding!

RTIS Network showed once more a totally responsible manner at all levels!

Over five dynamic days in early December, the coastal municipality of Alimos, Athens, was transformed into a vibrant, living classroom for the ARTisGReen Erasmus+ project. Bringing together 50+ students and educators from six European nations, this first transnational meeting moved seamlessly from theoretical training to profound, hands-on action—a remarkable feat orchestrated in just three weeks by the RTIS Network.

RTIS, the project’s Greek coordinating partner, demonstrated exceptional agility and vision. In an intense preparatory period, they meticulously designed and executed a comprehensive program that transcended traditional academic meetings. The goal was not to talk about sustainability, but to live it, create from it, and become guardians of it.

🌟 A Week of Holistic, Experiential Learning

Under RTIS’s expert management, each day was a carefully crafted chapter in a story of transformation:

♻️ Day 1: The Circular Challenge & Municipal Strategy
The week began by bridging policy and practice. Participants engaged directly with the Municipality of Alimos, where officials presented the city’s “Green Strategy” on waste, transport, and energy. A live demonstration of public recycling technology underscored the real-world systems behind sustainability, setting a tone of tangible, civic-minded action.

🌊 Day 2: Guardians of the Shore – The Beach Intervention
Theory met the tide during a powerful Beach Clean-Up. But this was merely the first step. Students and teachers collected anthropogenic debris, which they later transformed in a creative lab into new tools and art pieces. This direct process of “waste to resource” embodied the circular economy, proving that environmental care is the first material in any creative process.

🎨 Day 3: The Magic of Clay – Connecting to Earth
In a deeply tactile session conceived by RTIS’s Maria Markantonaki, the delegation visited a historic Alimos Clay Factory. Guided by master artisans, participants connected with one of humanity’s oldest materials, shaping raw earth into art. This activity celebrated slow, mindful making and the creative rebirth inherent in natural materials—a core principle of sustainable living.

🐢 Day 4: Protectors of Biodiversity – The ARCHELON Visit
A poignant visit to the Sea Turtle Protection Society (ARCHELON) provided an emotional anchor for the week. Witnessing the conservation work for these ancient creatures made abstract concepts of biodiversity and ecosystem protection vividly real, reinforcing the “why” behind every sustainable action.

🌀 Day 5: Adaptation & Synthesis – The Storm Lesson
The week’s curriculum was underscored by a powerful, unplanned lesson from nature itself. Participants experienced the dramatic shift from a sunny beach day to the arrival of Storm Byron. This firsthand encounter with volatile weather became a live case study in resilience and adaptation, themes central to the project. Plans were seamlessly adjusted, demonstrating the very flexibility and responsive management RTIS championed throughout.

🔑 The RTIS Network: Orchestrators of Transformation

The true success of the week lay in RTIS’s holistic approach. They masterfully wove together:

Municipal Engagement with grassroots Student Action.

Environmental Science with Expressive Art.

Traditional Craft with Modern Ecological Challenges.

This was not a series of disjointed visits but a cohesive narrative. The beach clean-up fed the art lab; the policy meeting informed project ideas; the storm reinforced the urgency of the mission. RTIS created an immersive ecosystem where every activity reinforced the others, fostering a profound sense of agency, community, and interdisciplinary understanding.

🚀 A Launchpad for a Three-Year Mission

This week in Alimos was far more than a meeting; it was the successful ignition of the ARTisGReen project’s three-year engine. RTIS Network, through exemplary management and visionary planning, did not merely host an event—they facilitated a transformational experience. They proved that deep, impactful education can be curated against tight deadlines, leaving 50 participants from six countries not just informed, but inspired, connected, and equipped to become true ambassadors for a resilient future.

The seeds of change have been planted. The European network is activated. The journey of ARTisGReen is decisively underway.

The 36 months journey of ARTisGReen starts from Greece!!

We are proud to announce the successful conclusion of the foundational online transformative Teacher training for the Erasmus+ KA220-SCH project, ARTisGReen. This intensive program, held from November 7th to 22nd, 2023, marks the project’s first major deliverable and officially kick-starts our three-year mission to reshape education for sustainability across Europe. 🚀

The course, “Education for Sustainable Development as Transformational Healing,” brought together a dedicated cohort of educators from six partner nations: Greece 🇬🇷, Romania 🇷🇴, Türkiye 🇹🇷, Portugal 🇵🇹, Poland 🇵🇱, and Estonia 🇪🇪.

🔑 The RTIS Network: Architects of Transformation

The success of this pivotal training phase is attributed to the expert design and facilitation by our Greek partner, the RTIS Network. Under the leadership of Dimitris Chaniotis and the strategic guidance of Maria Markantonaki, the RTIS team transcended the role of mere trainers to become architects of a new pedagogical mindset.

They masterfully delivered a curriculum that moved beyond theoretical knowledge, equipping teachers with a practical framework to become “Transformation Agents” in their own classrooms. The training introduced the project’s core methodology, the AST Fusion—the strategic integration of Art, Science, and Technology—as the engine for student-led, real-world problem-solving.

📚 A Curriculum Designed for Impact

The program’s unique blended format combined dynamic synchronous sessions with deep asynchronous reflection, built on several key pillars:

✨ From “Fast Culture” to Resilient Citizenship: Educators learned to diagnose the environmental and social impacts of consumerism and frame solutions through the lens of resilience and circularity.

🧠 The “Great Slow Down”: The concept of transformational learning was introduced as an antidote to eco-anxiety, emphasizing depth, connection, and mindful action over speed and consumption.

🛠 The “Living Lab” Framework: Teachers were equipped to turn their schools and local communities into testing grounds for sustainability, where students act as co-researchers and ambassadors for change.

🤝 Building a European Community of Practice: The training fostered a vibrant network of educators committed to long-term collaboration, sharing adaptations of the methodology to their diverse local contexts.

From November 19-22, 2025, the Municipality of Fano hosted the fourth transnational meeting of the GreenMove project—a gathering that transcended mere milestones to become a historic declaration of commitment and innovation. Coordinated flawlessly by RTIS Network, this CERV event showcased exceptional organization, strategic vision, and a united drive toward a sustainable future for Europe’s rural communities. 🎯🤝

A Meeting That Sets a New Standard in Sustainable Collaboration 🌱✨

Under RTIS’s expert leadership, the consortium of 17 partners from 16 countries not only advanced project deliverables—such as workshops on integrated mobility, vital data collection, and the development of the fourth chapter of the Interactive Sustainable Living Guidebook (GISLG)—but also made a groundbreaking collective pledge.

This pledge? The creation of the “GreenMove Sustainability Toolbox”—a dynamic, open-access digital repository designed to remain a living legacy long after project funding concludes. This innovative platform will house proven e-tools, strategic models, and best practices from GreenMove and previous EU projects, empowering rural communities to implement sustainable mobility and energy efficiency solutions independently. 🌐🔧

RTIS’s Expertise in Action: Building a Legacy for the Future 🔧🌿

A spokesperson from the Municipality of Fano emphasized, “A project’s true success is measured by its longevity. The Toolbox is our promise that GreenMove’s knowledge will evolve into a resource fueling the green transition across Europe’s rural areas for years to come.”

Throughout the project, partners have already demonstrated tangible impact:

In North Corfu, Greece, GreenMove laid the groundwork for a new Small Ports Management Office, a pivotal step in sustainable coastal mobility.

In Podstrana, Croatia, the consortium called on the European Commission to designate May 9 as a “European Day of Sustainable Mobility,” linking green action with European identity.

Partners from Malta to Latvia are actively implementing plans for on-demand transport, inclusive infrastructure, and community-led green tourism.

The Toolbox will serve as a comprehensive systematization of these real-world experiences—offering future adopters tested blueprints for impactful change.

A Unified, Impact-Driven Consortium 🌍🤝

Funded by the CERV-2024-Network of Towns program, the GreenMove network exemplifies the power of collaboration. The decision in Fano underscores a shared commitment to European values of solidarity, territorial cohesion, and sustainable development.

By co-creating this legacy tool, RTIS and its partners ensure that the spirit of GreenMove—pragmatic problem-solving and unwavering dedication to rural transformation—will inspire communities across Europe for generations to come. 🌟🌿

Within the framework of the Erasmus+ Project “ZeroPlastic 4 All” (ZP4All)
(Project No. 2023-2-EL01-KA210-VET-000170094), trainers from RTIS Training successfully implemented a local dissemination and capacity-building activity in Alimos, translating European cooperation into tangible educational impact at community level.

Following their participation in transnational meetings and joint training activities, RTIS trainers transferred the knowledge, methodologies, and tools developed at European level to the local Vocational Education and Training (VET) community, reinforcing the project’s objective of empowering learners and educators to actively address plastic pollution.

The activity was organised as a one-day conference and interactive workshop, structured into six thematic sessions, and involved 30–40 students from at least three different classes. Participants were introduced to the ZP4All project framework, its innovative educational tools, and the newly developed ZP4All Educational Guide. In parallel, the ZP4All online platform was presented through a structured e-presentation, providing an overview of its learning materials and practical resources.

The training sessions addressed the core thematic areas of the project, including:

Understanding the Life Cycle of Plastics

Strategies for Reducing Plastic Use

Alternative Materials and Technologies

Policy and Regulation

Community and Corporate Responsibility

Education and Outreach

Monitoring and Evaluation

Best Practices in Monitoring and Evaluation

The event was hosted in Alimos, with the support of the local school, highlighting how European-funded initiatives can foster meaningful local engagement and contribute to sustainable behavioural change. Through hands-on learning and participatory approaches, students were encouraged to critically assess plastic use and explore practical, scalable solutions.

The 5th transnational meeting of the GREENgaged project concluded successfully, highlighted by RTIS’s outstanding presentation that once again showcased the network’s expertise and innovation. RTIS Network members played a leading role throughout the event, exemplifying their commitment and excellence.

This flagship gathering, held from April 28 to May 1, 2025, in Budapest, Hungary, brought together over 20 partners from across Europe under the theme of Energy Democracy. The event was hosted by the Municipality of Zugló and marked a significant milestone as it was the first time that the Municipality of Alimos took on the role of organizer within the framework of the European CERV Programme.

RTIS delivered a dynamic and fully organic presentation that captivated the audience. Incorporating real-life insights from the recent blackouts in Spain and Portugal, the presentation provided a fresh perspective on energy issues, making it one of the most memorable and impactful sessions of the conference. The experienced project managers from RTIS expertly conveyed complex concepts with clarity and engagement, earning high praise from attendees.

The three-day agenda was filled with inspiring activities and fruitful discussions. The “GREENgaged Citizens” initiative continues to foster citizen participation in environmental policymaking, emphasizing the importance of collaboration between local authorities and communities. This edition concentrated on Energy Democracy, a vital concept within the environmental justice movement that advocates for the democratization of energy production and management, aligning with our shared goal of a sustainable and equitable energy future.

The Budapest meeting provided a valuable platform for exchanging best practices and strengthening partnerships among participants from Italy, Portugal, Estonia, Latvia, Spain, Slovakia, Hungary, the Netherlands, Slovenia, Lithuania, Bulgaria, and France. It also marked a historic moment as Alimos Municipality stepped into the role of event organizer for the first time, demonstrating the growing leadership and engagement of our local community on a European stage.

A particularly inspiring highlight was the presentation by students from the Private School EUROPA 2000 Gimnázium in Budapest. With creativity and passion, they shared their innovative ideas and initiatives to combat climate change through a compelling debate, delivering a powerful message of responsibility and hope for the future.

This successful event not only strengthened our network but also reinforced our commitment to advancing sustainable, participatory, and innovative approaches to energy and environmental justice across Europe.

RTIS Network, in collaboration with EKOGreece as part of the groundbreaking European initiative YouCycle, proudly convened its inaugural online meeting with a dynamic team of young entrepreneurs. This transformative gathering provided a comprehensive overview of the ambitious business plan for Maison de Vie, an inspiring start-up founded by three passionate individuals aged between 23 and 25. Their youthful energy and innovative spirit promise to drive impactful change in the realms of sustainable development and social responsibility.

The session also included a compelling review of the Business Model Canvas, which was initially explored during an intensive two-day workshop in Athens last July. Under the expert mentorship of RTIS staff, the mission of Maison de Vie is firmly anchored in the principles of sustainability, circular economy, and resilience, reflecting a strong commitment to social responsibility and Nature-based Solutions (NbS). These key tenets are not just theoretical ideals; they are the very foundation upon which the YouCycle project is developed.

This meeting marks a significant milestone in empowering a new generation of leaders who are passionately dedicated to crafting innovative solutions for a sustainable future. With their youthful vision and unwavering commitment, these entrepreneurs are poised to become catalysts for meaningful change, inspiring others to embrace a more responsible, resilient, and sustainable way of life.
