A Gathering of Visionaries for a Greener Future

This significant assembly served as a platform for comprehensive review and evaluation. The participants meticulously examined the project’s outcomes, verified the completion of all deliverables across Activities 1 to 8, and discussed the impact and sustainability of the innovative educational tools developed. These include the detailed educational guide, the students’ manual, the dynamic educational platform, and a dedicated mobile application — resources designed to extend the project’s influence beyond its initial funding period.
The meeting also focused on strategizing future initiatives, strengthening strategic partnerships, and preparing the final report for submission to the European Union’s funding body. The collaborative efforts demonstrated a unified dedication to fostering environmental awareness and technological innovation to address plastic pollution across Europe.

The ZeroPlastic4All (ZP4All) project is making a significant impact across partner countries, driven by the active participation of students from Greece and Italy. Organized by RTIS Network and Formedil-Bari, this initiative has successfully engaged young learners through comprehensive questionnaires that promote learning, self-expression, and environmental awareness.

Thanks to the dedication of these students, all questionnaires have been filled out, providing invaluable insights into the urgent issue of plastic pollution. Teachers and trainers are gaining firsthand knowledge of the scale and complexity of this environmental challenge, identifying key samples and inspiring students to become catalysts for change.

ZeroPlastic4All is fundamentally about education and raising awareness. It aims to empower young people to become active citizens committed to environmental stewardship. The platform, which is nearly ready for launch, will soon go live after final testing, providing an innovative digital tool that puts students at the forefront of environmental action.

As a key partner and developer within the program, RTIS has created the ZP4All Platform—https://online.zp4all.com/ an integrated digital solution aimed at addressing pressing ecological challenges, particularly plastic pollution and waste management. These tools are set to be piloted in November 2025, marking a significant milestone in empowering VET students to become environmental change agents.

Driving Change Through Digital Innovation

The ZP4All Platform comprises two innovative tools:

• An Interactive E-Learning Platform: This online educational resource provides vital information on plastic pollution, coastal ecosystems, and circular economy principles, with a special focus on microplastic reuse. It aims to raise awareness and foster sustainable practices among VET students.
• A Smart Mobile Application: Designed for real-time environmental monitoring, this app allows users to upload live photos and videos of water waste, plastic debris, and coastal changes. It enables users to report illegal dumping, water and land pollution, oil spills, and habitat damage—empowering young citizens to take immediate action.

The app’s functionalities include:

RTIS’s leadership in developing these tools underscores its commitment to advancing the goals of the Erasmus+ VET Program—equipping young learners with practical skills and knowledge to address environmental challenges. The platform is designed to be accessible, free, and easy to use, encouraging widespread adoption among students, educators, and environmental advocates.

Looking Ahead

The pilot launch in November 2025 will test the effectiveness of these digital solutions in real-world settings, with the aim of scaling their use across various regions. RTIS remains dedicated to fostering innovative approaches to environmental education and action, supporting the broader Erasmus+ mission of building resilient, sustainable communities.

Following their participation in transnational meetings and joint training activities, RTIS trainers transferred the knowledge, methodologies, and tools developed at European level to the local Vocational Education and Training (VET) community, reinforcing the project’s objective of empowering learners and educators to actively address plastic pollution.

The activity was organised as a one-day conference and interactive workshop, structured into six thematic sessions, and involved 30–40 students from at least three different classes. Participants were introduced to the ZP4All project framework, its innovative educational tools, and the newly developed ZP4All Educational Guide. In parallel, the ZP4All online platform was presented through a structured e-presentation, providing an overview of its learning materials and practical resources.

The training sessions addressed the core thematic areas of the project, including:

• Understanding the Life Cycle of Plastics
• Strategies for Reducing Plastic Use
• Alternative Materials and Technologies
• Policy and Regulation
• Community and Corporate Responsibility
• Education and Outreach
• Monitoring and Evaluation
• Best Practices in Monitoring and Evaluation

The event was hosted in Alimos, with the support of the local school, highlighting how European-funded initiatives can foster meaningful local engagement and contribute to sustainable behavioural change. Through hands-on learning and participatory approaches, students were encouraged to critically assess plastic use and explore practical, scalable solutions.

By strengthening skills, raising awareness, and promoting responsible practices, ZP4All continues to support the transition towards a more sustainable and plastic-conscious Europe, in line with the objectives of the Erasmus+ Programme.

Progress and Developments in the ZP4All Project

Building on the success of the initial phases, RTIS Network has embarked on the second stage of the project, focusing on the creation and deployment of specialised questionnaires. These tools are designed to gather insightful data on plastic pollution, micro-plastics, and sustainable practices within coastal ecosystems—areas most impacted by plastic waste.

During the first semester of 2025, the project saw the launch of an educational guide and a trainers’ manual, both of which serve as foundational resources for educators and trainers involved in the initiative. These materials aim to enhance understanding and foster effective teaching strategies on environmental topics, especially within the context of VET programs. (please follow the @zp4all.eu

Focus Area: Plastic Pollution & Circular Economy in Coastal Ecosystems

The core focus of this project phase revolves around addressing plastic pollution, particularly microplastics—tiny plastics less than 5mm in size—that contaminate marine environments and threaten biodiversity. The questionnaires developed by RTIS are tailored to assess knowledge, attitudes, and practices related to plastic reuse, recycling, and microplastic identification among students and educators.

This approach emphasizes the importance of integrating circular economy concepts into VET curricula, encouraging students to think critically about waste reduction, resource reuse, and sustainable management of coastal ecosystems.

Multilingual Outreach: Enhancing Accessibility and Impact

Recognizing the diverse linguistic landscape of participating regions, the second questionnaire has been translated into Italian and Greek. These translated versions have been distributed to targeted schools, ensuring broader reach and engagement among local communities and future professionals in the field.

Conclusion: A Step Forward in Environmental Education & Sustainable Development

RTIS Network’s ongoing efforts exemplify how vocational education can serve as a powerful catalyst for environmental change. By developing targeted assessment tools, translating them for inclusivity, and actively involving schools, the project paves the way for a new generation of environmentally conscious professionals equipped to tackle plastic pollution and promote sustainable practices.
