PROTECTION OUR PLANET STARTS WITH YOU

Our bodies are made up of 70% water, so it’s vital that we stay hydrated. Not only does water help increase energy levels and brain utility, but it also aids in skin shape, blood pressure upkeep, and much more. The health benefits of water are virtually endless.

World Water Day is an annual observance on March 22nd that focuses on the importance of fresh water and advocating for the sustainable management of freshwater resources. It was designated by the United Nations General Assembly in 1992 to raise awareness about the critical need for access to clean and safe water for everyone.

This day is an opportunity for nations, governments, organizations, communities, and individuals to take action and make a difference in ensuring the sustainable management of freshwater resources. This includes reducing pollution, increasing access to clean water and sanitation, and protecting the rights of people to have access to safe and clean water.

World Water Day is also a day to celebrate the successes and progress that has been made in providing access to clean and safe water, and to recommit to the ongoing work that needs to be done to ensure that everyone, everywhere, has access to this essential resource.

As World Water Day is observed worldwide, the focus is on raising awareness about the importance of water and educating people about the need to conserve it.

People are becoming increasingly conscious of the importance of conserving it. The purpose of World Water Day is to support the UN’s Sustainable Development Goal of providing safe drinking water and sanitation to all by 2030. “Making the Invisible Visible” is the subject of this year’s World Water Day, which focuses on groundwater. It focuses on the global significance of groundwater.

One in every three people does not have safe drinking water, and by 2025, half of the world’s population will be living in water-scarce areas.

• 2.2 billion people will lack safe drinking water if current trends continue.
• 1.9 billion people would lack access to basic handwashing facilities by 2030.

In Africa, water security is a major issue. Only 71% of the population has access to basic drinking water services, leaving 353 million people on the continent without clean drinking water. This means that three out of ten Africans today do not have access to safe drinking water.

In Europe, climate change has affect many countries creating them critical issues with water scarcity. Countries like Slovenia and Croatia experienced terrible issues in the summer of 2022 with water scarcity. Slovenia’s western part was stunned especially hard, having received less than half the amount of rainfall expected for this time of year, furthermore, most of the Mediterranean countries are facing water scarcity problem, the last two decades or so..

As a result of climate change, traditional water sources are also becoming exhausted.
Surface dams are also no longer viable sources of household water due to the volatility of weather patterns and insufficient rainfall.

Nobody wants to imagine a world without the music of rain and waves.

Better sleep quality: Spending time in forests has been shown to improve sleep quality and reduce symptoms of insomnia.

Ecotherapy: Participating in activities such as forest therapy, also known as ecotherapy, can help individuals to connect with nature, improve mental health, and reduce symptoms of stress and anxiety.

These benefits demonstrate the importance of forests for human health and well-being, and the need for continued efforts to protect and conserve these valuable ecosystems

Forest fires are a major threat to forests and the biodiversity they support. Wildfires can have a range of impacts on forests, including:

Habitat loss: Forest fires can destroy large areas of forest, reducing the available habitat for wildlife and leading to declines in biodiversity.

Soil degradation: Forest fires can also result in soil degradation and erosion, making it harder for forests to regrow and recover from the impacts of the fire.

Air quality: Forest fires emit large quantities of smoke and other pollutants into the atmosphere, which can have serious impacts on air quality and human health.

Carbon emissions: Forest fires also release large quantities of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere, contributing to climate change.

Livelihoods: Forest fires can also have serious impacts on the livelihoods of people who rely on forests for food, fuel, and other resources.

Protecting forests is important for a number of reasons, including preserving biodiversity, regulating the water cycle, mitigating the impacts of climate change, and supporting local communities.
Support sustainable forestry practices: Choose products made from sustainably managed forests and support companies that prioritize responsible forest management practices.

Reduce paper use: Minimize paper usage by switching to digital alternatives, recycling paper products, and choosing products made from recycled paper.

Get involved in reforestation projects: Participate in local reforestation initiatives or support organizations that are working to restore degraded or deforested areas.

Support conservation efforts: Donate to organizations that are working to protect forests and their biodiversity, or support policies and initiatives that prioritize conservation and sustainable management practices.

Reduce deforestation: Reduce the demand for products that drive deforestation, such as beef, palm oil, and soy, by choosing alternative products and supporting companies that prioritize sustainability.

Advocate for sustainable land-use policies: Advocate for policies that prioritize sustainable land use, including measures to protect forests, reduce deforestation, and promote reforestation and sustainable forestry practices.

Educate others: Educate others about the importance of forests and the need for ongoing conservation efforts and encourage others to take action to protect these valuable ecosystems.

Coronavirus lockdowns around the globe have led to a dramatic 5% drop in greenhouse gas emissions, according to UNCTAD estimates, but not all measures to contain the pandemic have had a positive impact on the environment.
The COVID-19 pandemic has led to an increased global demand for single-use plastics such as face masks and gloves. The resulting waste, some of which ends up in rivers and oceans, is intensifying pressure on an already out-of-control global plastic problem.
Plastic pollution was already one of the greatest threats to our planet before the coronavirus outbreak.

This is quite alarming since fish, turtles, and seabirds may mistake this medical waste for food and eat it. The use of these items results in the slow and gruesome deaths of millions of animals every year. In addition, many of these creatures that are consuming plastics are included in our food chain, meaning that we are also poisoned by our own garbage.

The human factor is once more far and away from Resilience!!

RTIS Network will soon enough start a campaign to reduce the Covid-19 littering as it’s the term that is officially using and the campaign will be titled “Eliminate the Covid-19 littering”
