March 8–15, 2026 | Erasmus+, European Projects, Youth Engagement
Article written by team leader Eleftheria Stefanou

The Erasmus+ Youth Exchange “Council of the Future” took place in Baliki, Poland from March 8th to 15th, bringing together 26 young participants from across Europe. The project focused on strengthening citizen competences, promoting youth engagement, and encouraging active participation in democratic life through dialogue and participation.

Funded by the European Union under the Erasmus+ programme and organized by Mind Balance in cooperation with RTIS Network and other international partners, the project created a dynamic environment for intercultural dialogue, collaboration, and personal development.

Travel Day: Arrival & First Impressions
The mobility began with arrival in Warsaw, where participants had the opportunity to explore the city before traveling to the remote and nature-rich area of Baliki. This setting provided an ideal environment for reflection, focus, and meaningful interaction among participants.
Day 1: Building Foundations & Understanding Boundaries
The first day focused on team-building and establishing a safe and respectful environment. Through interactive activities and discussions, participants explored the concept of boundaries and consent, laying the groundwork for effective communication and collaboration throughout the project.

Day 2: Addressing Youth Challenges in Modern Society
The second day was dedicated to examining key challenges faced by young people today, including:
• Misinformation and media manipulation
• Inequality and barriers to participation
• Polarization and social conflict
• Limited representation of youth voices
Participants analyzed the root causes of these issues, their real-life impact, and the difficulties in addressing them. The day concluded with reflection activities focusing on identifying healthy and unhealthy communication patterns.
Day 3: Cultural Exchange & Creative Expression
Participants engaged with a local volunteer school group through an arts and crafts activity, where they created traditional cookies and learned local dances. This experience enhanced intercultural understanding and strengthened connections between participants and the local community. The remainder of the day allowed time for informal interaction and relaxation.
Day 4: Debate Skills & Intercultural Dialogue
On Day 4, participants explored the fundamentals of structured debate, including argumentation, rebuttal, public speaking, and respectful dialogue. These tools were essential for the Oxford-style debates that formed a core element of the project.
The day concluded with an intercultural evening, celebrating diversity through the sharing of traditions, food, and cultural practices.
Day 5: Collaborative Work & Publication Development
Participants dedicated the day to developing the project’s final publication. Through teamwork, they created visual materials and presentations summarizing key learnings related to debate, youth participation, and critical thinking. The results were presented and discussed collectively.
Day 6: Dissemination, Reflection & Closing
The final working day focused on evaluation, dissemination planning, and administrative preparation. Participants discussed how to transfer the knowledge gained to their local communities.
As part of the follow-up activities, a dissemination event was organized in Greece, presenting the project’s objectives and results to a group of young participants.
The session emphasized the importance of dialogue, democratic participation, and critical thinking, encouraging active engagement. The project concluded with a closing ritual, offering space for reflection on the experience and the connections formed.
Day 7: Departure
Participants returned to Warsaw and departed for their home countries, concluding an intensive and enriching mobility experience.

Impact & Learning Outcomes
The “Council of the Future” project provided participants with valuable opportunities to develop essential skills such as communication, teamwork, leadership, and critical thinking. Through workshops, discussions, and Oxford-style debates, participants strengthened their confidence and ability to engage in meaningful dialogue on important societal issues, including misinformation, media literacy, youth participation, and mental health.
The experience also contributed to the development of leadership and team-building competences, particularly for those taking on coordination roles, while fostering a strong sense of collaboration and intercultural understanding.

Overall, the project served as a powerful platform for empowering young people to become active citizens and contributors to the future of Europe.
Looking Ahead

The knowledge and experiences gained during the project will continue to have an impact through local dissemination activities and community engagement. By promoting dialogue, participation, and critical thinking, initiatives like “Council of the Future” play a vital role in shaping more inclusive and active societies.

Over 24 months, RTIS Network coordinated 17 partners from 16 countries across six transnational meetings – from Corfu to Valongo.

GreenMove is not just a project. It is a movement.

From November 2024 to May 2026, the GreenMove consortium proved that (citizen-led activities) sustainable mobility is not just about technology – it is about people (citizen-led), democracy, and shared European values.

A Network Built on Trust, Tenacity, and Vision

When RTIS Network assumed the role of lead coordinator for the GreenMove project (CERV-2024-Network of Towns) , we knew we were embarking on an ambitious journey: to unite 17 partners from 16 European countries – including municipalities, NGOs, research centres, and a chamber of commerce – around a single, transformative idea. That idea was Demos‑Kratos: power from the people.

Over 24 months, we organised six transnational meetings across Europe – from the Ionian coast of North Corfu to the mountains of Valongo – and an additional series of digital workshops that ensured continuous engagement despite travel disruptions affecting nine of the 16 countries at one critical juncture.

What we achieved together is not merely a set of deliverables. It is a permanent European infrastructure for climate democracy. https://www.linkedin.com/feed/update/urn:li:share:7458101028194852864/?actorCompanyId=108188120

Key Achievements of the GreenMove Project on rural mobility and more…

1. Six High‑Impact Citizen-led Transnational Meetings

Each meeting was designed to advance a specific pillar of sustainable, inclusive mobility:

Meeting

Location

Theme

Key Outcome

#1

North Corfu, Greece

European Rural Identity & Transformation

First GISLG chapter; consortium foundation

#2

Siggiewi, Malta

Innovative Technologies for Mobility & Energy

Linked tech with democratic values; second GISLG chapter

#3

Podstrana, Croatia

Sustainable Tourism & Mobility

Launched European Day of Sustainable Mobility; third GISLG chapter

#4

Fano, Italy

Fundamental Rights & EU Values in Transport

Created Charter for Inclusive Mobility; fourth GISLG chapter

#5

Paphos, Cyprus

Holistic Societal Progress & Citizen Engagement

Fifth GISLG chapter; hybrid delivery despite travel bans

#6

Valongo, Portugal

Empowering Women in Mountainous Regions

Universal Design adopted as core legacy; sixth GISLG chapter; permanent network formalised

2. The Interactive Sustainable Living Guidebook (GISLG)

A six‑chapter, open‑access resource co‑created by all partners, covering:

European rural identity & transformation

Innovative technologies for sustainable mobility

Sustainable tourism & eco‑friendly transport options

Fundamental rights & EU values in transport infrastructure

Holistic societal progress through citizen engagement

Gender equality, social inclusion & mountainous regions

The GISLG is now available on the GreenMove platform as a living toolkit for any European municipality.

3. The European Day of Sustainable Mobility

The consortium issued a formal call to the European Commission to establish May 9 (Europe Day) as the annual European Day of Sustainable Mobility – a continent‑wide moment for citizens and municipalities to take concrete action for greener, more inclusive transport.

4. The GreenMove Digital Toolbox & Open‑Access Resources

An online repository of proven e‑tools, policy templates, citizen science methodologies, and replication guides – all freely available to any municipality, regardless of size or budget.

5. Universal Design as a Core Legacy

Inspired by the Municipality of Fano (presented by Davide Frulla), the consortium adopted Universal Design – “Design for All” as a binding principle for inclusive mobility planning. This approach ensures that infrastructure investments actively benefit families with strollers, children, elderly citizens, and persons with disabilities – and it will now be integrated into the GreenMove methodology for future replication. https://www.comune.fano.pu.it/

6. Permanent European Network of Citizen Science Observatories

The consortium formalised itself as a permanent association, open to new members, with a rotating secretariat and annual assemblies. This guarantees that the GreenMove network – and its commitment to citizen‑led climate action – will continue long after EU funding ends.

7. Pathway to Interreg Europe

The consortium confirmed its ambition to upscale the GreenMove methodology through an Interreg Europe proposal, focusing on policy learning, cross‑regional cooperation, and improving local governance instruments. This will allow the partnership to move from a network of towns to a policy‑improvement project with regional and national impact.

Overcoming Adversity: The Paphos Example

At the 5th meeting in Paphos (March 2026), severe weather and transport strikes made travel impossible for delegations from nine of the 16 countries. The consortium refused to postpone. Instead, we delivered a seamless hybrid meeting that ensured 100% participation – with remote partners presenting, discussing, and co‑creating as if they were in the room. This moment became a defining testament to European resilience and solidarity.

Strategic Communication & Dissemination

The project’s outcomes were amplified through:

A synchronised publishing wave by all 17 partners on their official websites.

Multilingual press releases (over 15 languages) reaching national and regional media.

A participant‑driven social media campaign generating authentic advocacy and embedding #GreenMove into the European sustainability conversation.

Articles featured in the Forum of Adriatic and Ionian Cities (FAIC) newsletter, extending policy visibility to over 40 municipalities across eight countries.

What Our Partners Say

“What we built in GreenMove is not just a set of tools – it is a movement. From the shores of Corfu to the mountains of Valongo, we have shown that citizens, municipalities, and EU values can together forge a more inclusive, sustainable, and democratic Europe.”
– RTIS Network, Lead Coordinator

“The adoption of Universal Design as a core legacy of GreenMove will shape how we plan public spaces for generations. This is the true meaning of European cooperation.”
– Municipality of Fano

“Valongo’s Social Innovation Department demonstrated that citizen science and intergenerational solidarity can bridge the generation gap. Our YouTubeTrainers initiative is now a European best practice.”
– Municipality of Valongo

Looking Ahead: A Permanent Movement for Climate Democracy

The GreenMove project has officially concluded, but the GreenMove movement has only just begun. With a permanent network, a validated methodology, and a clear pathway to Interreg Europe, the consortium is ready to scale its impact – empowering more municipalities, engaging more citizens, and embedding fundamental rights into the very fabric of European mobility governance.

Day 1 – Sunday, April 26: Arrival and First Impressions

The Greek delegation departed from Athens’ Eleftherios Venizelos Airport, flying to Cluj, Romania, and then travelling by road to Bistrița. Upon arrival, Erasmus+ coordinators welcomed the group and escorted them to the hotel. After a briefing about the city and the programme, participants enjoyed a free day to explore Bistrița, have lunch, and rest. The evening included a short stroll through the city before returning to the hotel at 10:00 p.m. to prepare for the week ahead.

Day 2 – Monday, April 27: Official Opening and Cultural Immersion

The first official programme day began at the art school in Bistrița with a warm welcome that included a dance performance by students from all participating countries. Partner schools presented themselves, and students were divided into mixed international groups. The delegation visited the City Hall, where the deputy mayor greeted them and showed a video about the city. After lunch at the school cafeteria, teachers enjoyed a guided historical tour of Bistrița led by a local history teacher, while students participated in a scavenger hunt to discover the city. The day concluded with a get‑together dinner for teachers featuring live traditional music, and a separate student gathering for food and fun. Everyone returned to the hotel at 10:00 p.m.

Day 3 – Tuesday, April 28: Creative Workshops and Green Skills

The day focused on hands‑on creativity and sustainability. Students designed and decorated personalised mugs, which would be used throughout the week as part of the programme’s environmental awareness initiatives. Meanwhile, teachers toured the school’s facilities and workshops. Subsequently, students worked in four thematic workshops:

Fashion workshop: creating eco‑friendly jewellery for a fashion show scheduled on Thursday.

Ceramics workshop: shaping art with natural clay.

Architecture workshop: building a solar‑powered garden furniture piece capable of charging mobile phones.

Object restoration workshop: giving new life to old objects.

After lunch, selected students practised their catwalk as models for the upcoming fashion show. The evening featured an international party where participants shared traditional foods, music, and dances from all six countries. The day ended with a restful return to the hotel.

Day 4 – Wednesday, April 29: Mosaic Art and Transylvanian Excursion

Teachers attended a lesson on the art of mosaics and took part in a hands‑on workshop, creating mosaic designs inspired by the map of Europe and the participating countries. The group then visited the school library, observing student projects that included completed solar‑powered furniture and pillows made from recycled old fabrics.

In the afternoon, an educational excursion took the delegation to the villages of Herina, Teaca, and Poșmuș in the wider Transylvania region. Participants visited historically significant churches, enjoyed the natural landscape, and were warmly received at a local winery, where they learned about the wine‑making process and walked through the vineyards. The day concluded with a visit to the historic castle of Poșmuș and a tasting of local dairy products, cold cuts, wines, and pumpkin‑based products. The group returned to the hotel around 8:00 p.m.

Day 5 – Thursday, April 30: Grand Finale – Fashion Show and Exhibition

The fifth day was the project’s peak public event. In the morning, students wrote impressions in their project journals and took on roles to prepare for the afternoon event at the Bistrița Museum. They organised and transported items, then set up the fashion show runway and an exhibition of creations made from recycled materials. Meanwhile, teachers collaborated and exchanged views, while a teacher from the rehabilitation workshop painted portraits of colleagues from all countries, creating a warm and artistic atmosphere.

In the evening, around 6:00 p.m., the event took place at the museum. It was an outstanding success, featuring:

A fashion show of jewellery made by students from eco‑friendly materials.

An exhibition of educational projects made from recycled materials (solar furniture, upcycled pillows, etc.).

Attendance by the mayor and deputy mayor of Bistrița, representatives of local organisations, and the media, who conducted interviews with participants.

A certificate ceremony where the school principal and the mayor presented Erasmus+ participation certificates.

A reception with finger food showcasing local Romanian flavours.

The event left a lasting impression on all participants and highlighted the project’s contribution to education for sustainable development.

Day 6 – Friday, May 1: May Day Excursion to Lake Colibița and Closing Celebrations

The final day coincided with May Day. The group travelled to Lake Colibița, a natural gem near Bistrița. En route, they stopped at breathtaking viewpoints and visited the lake’s dam. A unique experience followed: a tour on a solar‑powered boat, gliding silently across the crystal‑clear waters – a perfect symbol of sustainability in action.

Lunch was served at a traditional local tavern, where hosts in authentic Romanian costumes offered a lavish meal with various dishes and desserts. A deeply touching moment occurred when a school teacher presented hand‑drawn portraits to the students as mementos of their participation.

In the afternoon, the delegation returned to Bistrița and joined the municipality’s May Day festivities, which included market stalls and a concert in the town centre in front of the historic church. The programme concluded with excellent impressions and positive feelings from all participants.

RTIS Network, as the lead partner of the ZP4All consortium, is proud to announce the official activation of the ZP4All Educational Manual on the SALTO‑Youth Toolbox.

We are thrilled to announce a significant milestone for the ZP4All project. Our comprehensive ZP4All Educational Manual, the cornerstone of our initiative, has been officially activated and is now freely accessible on the prestigious SALTO-Youth Toolbox, a key resource hub for trainers and youth workers across Europe.

This launch follows the successful listing of the companion ZP4All Educational Guide, with both tools now available to support educators in their critical mission to foster environmental awareness.

A Powerful Toolkit for Educators and Youth Workers

The tools are available at the following links:

ZP4All Educational Guide: https://www.salto-youth.net/tools/toolbox/tool/zp4all-educational-guide.5705/

ZP4All Educational Manual: https://toolbox.salto-youth.net/5706

The ZP4All Educational Guide is a comprehensive resource designed to empower students to lead environmental projects like recycling, waste reduction initiatives, and eco-friendly product design. It promotes hands-on workshops, project-based learning, and real-world case studies to foster critical thinking, problem-solving, and collaboration.

The ZP4All Educational Manual is a practical toolkit for educators. It provides guidance, tools, and resources to create engaging educational experiences centered on plastic pollution and sustainability. The manual features a flexible 12-week curriculum with modules that can be adapted to any teaching environment, helping to integrate sustainability concepts seamlessly into existing lesson plans.

Crucially, the Manual emphasises the importance of integrating environmental education into curricula, encouraging schools and training centres to adopt a holistic approach to sustainability. It moves beyond conventional testing by offering group‑based assessments, peer collaboration exercises, and reflective activities that evaluate student engagement, critical thinking and real‑world problem‑solving rather than rote memorisation. These alternative methods help educators capture the full depth of student learning and foster a culture of shared environmental responsibility.

The Manual is designed to be flexible: teachers can follow the entire 12‑week programme or select individual modules based on their timetable, student profile and local context. All materials are available as Open Educational Resources (OER) in English, Greek and Italian.

Key Highlights of the Resources

Both tools are designed with a focus on accessibility and practical use:

Free to Access: All resources are available as Open Educational Resources (OER) and can be downloaded free of charge.

Flexible and Adaptable: The materials are designed to be tailored to different age groups, curricula, and classroom settings.

Real-World Impact: The tools include practical activities, case studies, and assessment strategies to bring environmental education to life.

European Reach: The resources are the result of a transnational partnership between Greece (RTIS Network), Italy (Formedil Bari), and Portugal (Brigada do Mar), supported by the Erasmus+ programme.

Why These Resources Matter

Plastic pollution is one of the most urgent environmental crises of our time. VET students – the future welders, builders, hospitality staff and technicians – must leave their training with environmental literacy and green skills. The ZP4All resources directly address this need, and have already been tested with 285 students and 22 mentors across Greece and Italy, achieving a 97% increase in environmental knowledge and 94% satisfaction.

About the Project

The “ZeroPlastic 4 All” (ZP4All) project, Grant Agreement No. Erasmus+_2023-2-EL01-KA210-VET-000170094, is funded by the European Union. Its goal is to combat plastic pollution by equipping vocational education and training (VET) students and educators with the knowledge and skills needed to adopt zero-plastic lifestyles and promote a circular economy.

Erasmus Youth Training Course led by Jonathan Cooperativa Sociale

1. Executive Summary

The EmpowerED Training Course was designed to address a critical gap in youth participation across Europe. Drawing on Eurobarometer Parliament Youth Survey (2021) data confirming low youth involvement in local organizations, the project brought together 24 youth workers from eight countries. Over seven immersive days in Germany, participants gained modern tools, knowledge, and strategies to better engage young people in their communities. The training was built on non-formal education principles, emphasizing active participation, co-creation, and intercultural dialogue. By the end of the course, participants were equipped to conduct needs assessments, co-design workshops with youth, and train their colleagues. EmpowerED successfully promoted societal well‑being through self‑empowerment, active citizenship, and cross‑cultural collaboration.

2. Background & Problem Statement

European data consistently highlight a noticeable gap in youth participation in local organizations. Many young people feel disconnected from decision‑making processes that affect their lives. During the initial discussions among youth workers from the eight partner countries, three core issues emerged:

Lack of youth input in planning – Activities are often designed without consulting young people, leading to programs that do not resonate with their real needs or interests.

Excessively adult‑led activities – Young people have few opportunities to express themselves or develop a sense of purpose and ownership.

Outdated engagement approaches – Traditional methods no longer effectively reach today’s digitally native and socially diverse youth.

These challenges highlighted an urgent need to better equip youth workers with relevant tools, modern communication strategies, and participatory methods. EmpowerED was created as a direct response to that need.

3. Project Goal

The overarching goal of EmpowerED is to promote society’s well‑being through people’s self‑empowerment and self‑development, placing active citizenship and intercultural dialogue at the core. By training youth workers, the project indirectly empowers young people to become proactive, engaged citizens who contribute positively to their communities.

4. Specific Objectives

The project pursued three specific objectives:

Objective

Description

1. Enhance understanding

To improve youth workers’ capacity to understand and respond to the evolving needs and interests of young people.

2. Foster leadership

To empower youth workers to create meaningful opportunities for young people to develop and exercise leadership.

3. Modernize communication

To update youth workers’ communication approaches, making them relevant and effective for today’s youth.

5. Training Course Methodology

5.1 Format & Duration

7 days (4th November – arrival; 12th November – departure)

Location: Germany

5.2 Participants

24 youth workers from eight countries:

Italy 🇮🇹

Bulgaria 🇧🇬

Cyprus 🇨🇾

Latvia 🇱🇻

North Macedonia 🇲🇰

Portugal 🇵🇹

Serbia 🇷🇸

Spain 🇪🇸

5.3 Learning Approach

The training was based entirely on non‑formal education principles. Participants played an active role in the learning process rather than passively receiving information. Key methods included:

Creative activities (role‑play, simulations, storytelling)

Digital tools (online collaboration platforms, social media engagement techniques)

Interactive talks (expert inputs followed by Q&A)

Group discussions (peer‑to‑peer learning, country‑specific case studies)

5.4 Main Topics Covered

Needs assessment techniques for local youth

Co‑creation methodologies for designing youth‑led activities

Modern communication strategies (social media, gamification, visual storytelling)

Leadership development for young people

Intercultural dialogue as a tool for social cohesion

6. Outcomes & Results

By the end of the training, participants:

✅ Acquired a practical toolkit of methods, digital tools, and facilitation techniques.

✅ Developed the ability to design and run needs assessments with local youth.

✅ Learned co‑creation frameworks to build workshops together with young people.

✅ Understood how to modernize their communication to reach and resonate with today’s youth.

✅ Gained confidence in sharing their new skills with colleagues and other organizations.

✅ Built a strong cross‑European network of motivated youth workers for ongoing collaboration.

7. After‑Project Activities (RTIS Network)

Following the training course, participants (especially those within the RTIS Network) committed to implementing three concrete follow‑up activities in their home communities:

7.1 Needs Assessment Session with Local Youth

Action: Each participant facilitated a session using tools gained during EmpowerED to assess the real needs, interests, and challenges of young people in their local area.
Purpose: To ensure future activities are youth‑driven and relevant.

7.2 Co‑creation Workshop with Local Youth

Action: Participants worked together with young people to design an engaging activity or small project using co‑creation methods learned during the training.
Pro tip: Get inspired by the findings of the needs assessment.
Purpose: To give young people ownership over the process and outcomes.

7.3 Internal Training Session (Skill‑Sharing)

Action: Participants organized an internal training for colleagues within their own organization (and optionally for youth workers from other organizations) to share the new tools, methods, and strategies acquired during EmpowerED.
Purpose: To multiply the impact – the more people trained, the stronger and more innovative the organization becomes.

8. Impact & Sustainability

Short‑term impact

Youth workers return home with fresh, practical skills.

Local youth begin to be consulted and involved in meaningful co‑creation.

Participating organizations start modernizing their engagement strategies.

Long‑term sustainability

The internal training sessions ensure knowledge transfer even after the project ends.

The cross‑national network continues to exchange best practices via digital platforms.

EmpowerED’s tools and methodologies can be adapted and reused by any youth organization.

By addressing the root causes of low youth participation, EmpowerED creates a ripple effect: empowered youth workers → empowered young people → healthier, more active communities → greater societal well‑being.

9. Acknowledgments

The EmpowerED project was made possible thanks to the dedication of:

Coordinator
Jonathan Cooperativa Sociale – Italy 🇮🇹

Partners

Research Center of Innovation and Sustainability Tefkros Limited – Cyprus 🇨🇾

GLOBAL ORGANIZATION FOR DEVELOPMENT (G.O.D.) – Bulgaria 🇧🇬

Laiks Jauniešiem – Latvia 🇱🇻

Stairs and Levels Associação – Portugal 🇵🇹

Udruženje građana “Foresteducon” – Serbia 🇷🇸

Youthversum – The Republic of North Macedonia 🇲🇰

Special thanks to all 24 youth workers for their active participation and to the local community in Germany for hosting the training.

10. Conclusion

EmpowerED successfully equipped youth workers with the tools, knowledge, and strategies needed to close the participation gap among European youth. By shifting from adult‑led to co‑created activities, modernizing communication, and fostering leadership opportunities, the project lays a strong foundation for lasting change. The after‑project activities ensure that learning does not end with the training – it spreads, grows, and transforms local communities from the inside out.

🎉 As we mark the end of an incredible journey that began in April 2024, we are thrilled to announce the successful closure of the ZP4All project — a milestone built on dedication, collaboration, and shared vision.
Over the past two years, our team has worked tirelessly to deliver on every commitment, ensuring that each milestone was not only met but exceeded. From the very beginning, our goal was to foster innovation, strengthen regional capacities, and promote sustainable practices across the sectors involved.

Today, we can proudly say that we have fulfilled all planned deliverables, thanks to the unwavering commitment of our partners and stakeholders.
A special highlight of this journey was our third and final meeting held in the vibrant city of Athens, Greece. It was a moment of reflection, celebration, and strategic planning, where we reviewed our achievements and laid the groundwork for the final report.

Looking ahead, we are preparing the last comprehensive report, which will encapsulate all the insights, results, and impacts of our work. This vital document will be sent to the European Commission before the end of May 2026, marking the conclusion of our project with a sense of accomplishment and pride.
Through ZP4All, we have accomplished:

Development and implementation of innovative solutions tailored to regional needs
Strengthening of local capacities and fostering cross-border collaborations
Promotion of sustainable practices across industries
Engagement with communities, stakeholders, and policymakers
Comprehensive reporting and dissemination of findings to maximize impact

As we celebrate the successful conclusion of the ZP4All project, we reflect on the remarkable achievements and tangible outputs that exemplify our commitment to combating plastic pollution through education, innovation, and active citizen participation. Throughout this journey, we have developed a comprehensive ZP4All Educational Guide and ZP4All Manual, designed to equip educators, trainers, and students in Vocational Education and Training (VET) institutions with the knowledge, tools, and strategies needed to address the global challenge of plastic pollution. These resources offer in-depth insights into reducing plastic use, promoting sustainable alternatives, and fostering innovative, plastic-free lifestyles.

The Guide provides a detailed analysis of the environmental impact of plastics and actionable solutions, while the Manual delivers a structured 12-week program filled with practical activities, project ideas, and assessment tools to engage learners in sustainability initiatives.

In addition to educational materials, the project has pioneered the development of advanced digital tools within the Erasmus+ VET Program. The ZP4All Platform serves as an integrated, user-friendly digital ecosystem that raises awareness about plastic pollution and empowers users to participate in environmental monitoring and advocacy. The platform features two primary tools: an Interactive E-Learning Platform, which delivers engaging content on microplastics, circular economy principles, and waste management, and a Smart Mobile Application, enabling real-time data collection and citizen reporting of ecological threats such as illegal dumping, water pollution, habitat degradation, and illegal construction. These functionalities foster active environmental citizenship by allowing users to report issues directly, alert authorities, and participate in immediate action.

Furthermore, the project’s digital tools are designed with accessibility and ease of use in mind, ensuring broad adoption across diverse educational and community settings. Pilot testing of these solutions is scheduled for November 2025, with the aim of refining and scaling their deployment across multiple regions, ultimately contributing to a global movement towards environmentally responsible behavior among youth.

All these efforts—paired with the insights from our third and final meeting in Athens, Greece—culminate in a comprehensive final report, which will be submitted to the European Commission before the end of May 2026. This report will capture the full scope of our achievements, the impact of our innovative solutions, and the pathways for future dissemination and sustainability.
As we bid farewell to this chapter, we thank everyone who contributed—our dedicated team, partners, stakeholders, and communities—whose passion and commitment made these accomplishments possible. The knowledge, tools, and networks cultivated through ZP4All will inspire ongoing action, fostering a future where education and technology unite to create a cleaner, greener, and more sustainable planet.

We are excited to share the inspiring journey of RTIS Network’s participation in the Erasmus+ ARTisGreen 2nd Transnational Meeting, held in the beautiful city of Aveiro, Portugal. Over the course of several days, our team engaged in a series of enriching activities, workshops, cultural explorations, and collaborative projects—all centered around the theme: “Creating Synergies in Art for Wellbeing and Inclusion.”

Day 1: Discovering Aveiro — The Venice of Portugal 🌍✨
Our adventure began with a memorable river boat tour on the stunning Ria de Aveiro, often called the “Venice of Portugal.” 🚤🌿 This vibrant 47-kilometer-long coastal lagoon, connecting the Vouga River to the Atlantic Ocean, is a captivating maze of canals, islands, and marshlands. Known for its colorful moliceiro boats, salt production, and birdwatching, the experience set a perfect tone for the week ahead.
RTIS members, together with the 4th Lyceum of Alimos, embraced the local culture and began building meaningful connections in this picturesque setting. We’re energized and eager for the inspiring days to come!

Day 2: Workshops & Strategic Planning 🎨📝
Day 2 was dedicated to impactful workshops focused on fostering inclusive education in the arts. Our team actively participated in:

“Inclusive Teaching Methods in Arts – The Development of Inclusive Pedagogical Practices”
“Part II: Practical Art-Based Activities”

The 5th GreenMove Meeting came to a succefulf end against all odds!!

When severe weather conditions and transport strikes made travel impossible for delegations from nine partner countries, the consortium refused to accept postponement or cancellation. Instead, the GreenMove network mobilized its collective expertise to deliver a seamless hybrid meeting experience, with partners joining remotely to deliver their national presentations and actively participate in all workshops, roundtables, and discussions.

“This was GreenMove at its finest,” said a representative of ANETPA, the host organization. “When faced with obstacles, our network didn’t falter—it innovated. Partners who could not travel physically were present in spirit and in substance, delivering high-quality presentations via our hybrid platform. The dialogue was uninterrupted, the collaboration was authentic, and the outcomes were as rich as if everyone had been in the room.”

Despite the logistical challenges, the meeting achieved 100% participation from all 17 partner organizations across 16 countries, with approximately 80 delegates—both in-person and virtual—engaging in three days of intensive knowledge exchange and co-creation.

Delivering on the GreenMove Vision

The Paphos meeting successfully advanced the project’s core mission of embedding EU values into local mobility planning. Key achievements include:

In-depth national presentations from all 16 partner countries, providing a comprehensive overview of diverse European mobility ecosystems

Interactive workshops on citizen engagement strategies, participatory planning methods, and sustainable urban mobility

Roundtable discussions uniting local authorities, transportation providers, and community members

Cultural immersion in Paphos—the 2023 European Capital of Smart Tourism—showcasing the integration of heritage with sustainable innovation

Critical progress on the fifth chapter of the Interactive Sustainable Living Guidebook (GISLG), focused on transportation infrastructure and holistic societal progress

A Testament to European Cooperation

The successful delivery of the Paphos meeting against significant odds underscores the fundamental strength of the GreenMove partnership: a shared commitment to European values of solidarity, cooperation, and perseverance.

“What we witnessed in Paphos was the Demos-Kratos philosophy in action,” remarked a consortium coordinator. “When citizens and municipalities are united by a common purpose, obstacles become opportunities. Our partners refused to let geography or circumstances diminish our collective work. This is the true spirit of Europe.”

Looking Forward: The Final Meeting in Valongo

With the Paphos milestone achieved, the GreenMove consortium now sets its sights on the 6th and final transnational meeting, to be hosted by the Municipality of Valongo, Portugal, in late 2026. The Valongo meeting will focus on “Sustainable and Social Inclusion: Empowering Women in Mountainous Regions through Mobility and Gender Equality,” bringing the project’s journey full circle by addressing one of the most critical dimensions of inclusive mobility.

The Erasmus+ VET Program is reaching is final stage and the impressive work is getting shaped-up.

The ZeroPlastic4All (ZP4All) project is making a significant impact across partner countries, driven by the active participation of students from Greece and Italy. Organized by RTIS Network and Formedil-Bari, this initiative has successfully engaged young learners through comprehensive questionnaires that promote learning, self-expression, and environmental awareness.

Thanks to the dedication of these students, all questionnaires have been filled out, providing invaluable insights into the urgent issue of plastic pollution. Teachers and trainers are gaining firsthand knowledge of the scale and complexity of this environmental challenge, identifying key samples and inspiring students to become catalysts for change.

Empowering Youth for Environmental Action

ZeroPlastic4All is fundamentally about education and raising awareness. It aims to empower young people to become active citizens committed to environmental stewardship. The platform, which is nearly ready for launch, will soon go live after final testing, providing an innovative digital tool that puts students at the forefront of environmental action.

This initiative fosters a new generation of change-makers, encouraging them to participate in real-world solutions for plastic waste management and ocean protection. By engaging youth in meaningful learning experiences, ZP4All seeks to cultivate a sustainable mindset that will benefit communities and ecosystems alike.

The Urgency of Addressing Plastic Pollution

Plastic pollution stands as one of the most critical environmental crises of our time. Ubiquitous and durable, plastic is embedded in nearly every aspect of modern life—from everyday bottles and packaging to advanced applications like prosthetics and construction materials. Its rapid proliferation has overwhelmed waste management systems, resulting in severe pollution—particularly in our oceans, where rivers carry plastic debris into marine environments, forming vast floating islands.

Addressing this crisis requires immediate action, innovative solutions, and a well-informed, active youth. Educating young people about the importance of reducing plastic consumption and promoting sustainable practices is a vital step toward a cleaner, healthier planet.

Looking Ahead

The ZeroPlastic4All platform will soon be available to students, teachers, and environmental advocates, fostering a new wave of eco-conscious citizens. Through education, awareness, and active participation, the project aims to create a ripple effect—transforming individual actions into collective environmental change.

Join us in supporting the next generation of eco-warriors!
#ZeroPlastic4All #SaveOurPlanet #PlasticPollution #EnvironmentalAwareness #YouthForChange #SustainableFuture #ActNow #ProtectOurOceans #BeTheChange #EcoWarriors

Special thanks to Maria Palladino, Μαρία Μαρκαντωνάκη, and Giuseppe Rafaschieri for their ongoing commitment and leadership.
