Mediterranean Floating Marine Litter – MEDIFLOMAN

Floating marine litter is a widespread issue of pollution, especially evident in the Mediterranean basin. The vast majority of marine litter originates from land-based activities, including littering beaches and coastal areas. Once marine litter enters the sea, it either sinks or floats on the water’s surface, depending on each item’s density.

The implementation of the pilot program promotes the fight against littering through live paradigms, research and data registration and analysis, moreover, with a plan of educating and preparing at least 300 ambassadors (youth workers and adults working in the coastal areas, Hotels, restaurants, bars, NGO’s, Associations, diving and sea leisure centers, etc.) A number of daily focused workshops have been organised in all 20 islands the project targets.
