The event brought together partners from across Europe to present their innovative approaches to rural transformation through sustainable mobility solutions and the development of low emission zones. These measures are crucial for reducing pollution, enhancing social inclusion, and fostering eco-friendly tourism in underserved regions. The upcoming third meeting will focus on “Sustainable tourism and mobility in rural areas: Environmentally friendly transport options,” aiming to explore viable solutions that align with environmental and social goals. 🌱🌊

Objectives & Outlook: Building a Sustainable Future for Rural & Coastal Areas 🌐

The GreenMove consortium, a remarkable collaboration of 17 organizations from 16 European countries, exemplifies the power of international cooperation for sustainability. From the Mediterranean to the Baltic, and from Southeast to Central Europe, this diverse network acts as a hub for sharing knowledge, innovative practices, and expertise.

The main goal? To strengthen dialogue among public authorities, civil society, and international actors to improve mobility, reduce pollution, and promote sustainable development in rural and coastal communities. 🌿🤝

The 3rd Pan-European Meeting in Podstrana: Focus on Rural Tourism & Sustainable Transport 🚶‍♀️🌍

This event emphasizes the emerging role of rural tourism and the need for sustainable transport solutions tailored to the needs of various demographic groups. Highlights include:

  • Workshop: Exploring “Sustainable tourism and mobility in rural areas: environmentally friendly transport options,” focusing on diverse demographic needs.
  • Conference: Titled “Promoting citizen participation in European, local, regional, and national issues,” bringing together leaders and stakeholders to discuss ecological footprints, zero emissions, social cohesion, and resilience.

Official Launch & Future Steps 🚀

The GreenMove project officially launched on February 27 in Acharavi, Greece, and has since held meetings in Malta (June 2024) and now in Podstrana (October 2024). The project, spanning 18 months, aims to significantly impact mobility and social inclusion in EU rural and coastal areas, with further actions planned for 2025.
