From Athens to Szczecin: RTIS Network Embarks on the 4th ARTisGReen Student’s Transnational meeting in Poland

Flowing through the heart of the Pieniny Mountains, the Dunajec River carves a spectacular path through the Pieniny National Park in Poland. The scene captures the region's iconic tradition of wooden rafting, where passengers float gently downstream beneath the watchful gaze of the majestic Three Crowns massif (Trzy Korony). This picturesque landscape is a testament to the natural beauty that makes the Polish Pieniny a must-see destination for nature lovers and adventurers alike

🌍 Building Bridges of Art, Sustainability and European Cooperation

📌 Introduction

The clock is ticking… The 4th transnational meeting of the Erasmus+ project ARTisGReen is fast approaching! Following the resounding success of our previous mobilities in Greece (December 2025), Portugal, and Romania (April 2026), the ARTisGReen journey now takes us to the historic and culturally vibrant city of Szczecin, Poland.

RTIS Network, in close collaboration with our partner school 4th Lyceum of Alimos, will be travelling together to Poland this coming September to participate in this pivotal meeting. The mobility will be hosted by our esteemed Polish partner, Liceum Plastyczne im. Constantina Brancusi (The Secondary School of Fine Arts in Szczecin), and will bring together students and teachers from all six partner countries: Greece 🇬🇷, Romania 🇷🇴, Türkiye 🇹🇷, Poland 🇵🇱, Portugal 🇵🇹, and Estonia 🇪🇪.

🏫 About the Host School: Liceum Plastyczne im. Constantina Brancusi

The Secondary School of Fine Arts in Szczecin has been a cornerstone of artistic education in Poland since its establishment in 1948. Since 1956, the school has been located at the foot of the Pomeranian Dukes’ Castle, within the historic Loitz tenement house – a setting that provides a unique and inspiring atmosphere for artistic development and creativity. 🏰

🎯 Educational Programme

Since 2019, the school has operated on a five-year educational cycle, offering specialisation in the following artistic fields:

  • 🎨 Design of Artistic Products – patterning
  • 🔧 Restoration Techniques – specialisation in furniture and carved object renovation
  • 🖨️ Graphic Techniques – specialisation in graphic design
  • 🖼️ Graphic Techniques – specialisation in artistic printing techniques

🎭 Extracurricular Activities

Beyond the core curriculum, the school enriches its students’ experience with a wide range of extracurricular activities, including:

  • Open‑air painting workshops
  • Theatre classes
  • Graphic arts workshops
  • Photography classes

These activities activate young people, diversify the teaching process, and foster creativity and self‑expression.

🏆 Achievements & Recognition

The school is renowned for its outstanding artistic achievements. Students regularly participate in international and national competitions, exhibitions, and open‑air painting events, winning numerous awards and scholarships from the Mayor of Szczecin. The school also organises prestigious events, including the International Biennale of Graphics from Art Schools.

The works of students decorate public buildings across Szczecin, including schools, galleries, libraries, and religious institutions – a testament to the school’s high artistic standards and its deep connection to the local community. 🖼️

🌈 Inclusive Education

The school works with students from diverse backgrounds, including several young people who have changed gender. This requires inclusive teaching methods and an open‑minded approach – a challenge that the school community continues to embrace with dedication and professionalism. RTIS Network recognises the importance of such inclusive practices and looks forward to exchanging experiences and good practices with our Polish colleagues.

🌍 The 4th Mobility – Programme Focus

The 4th transnational meeting will centre on the following key objectives:

One of the greatest highlights of this mobility will be a visit to a Polish National Park – a protected natural area covering at least 1,000 hectares, recognised for its exceptional environmental, scientific, and cultural value. This excursion will provide participants with a firsthand experience of Poland’s natural heritage and its commitment to environmental protection and sustainable tourism. 🏞️🌲

🏙️ About Szczecin – A City of History, Culture & Nature

📍 Szczecin (historically known in English as Stettin) is the capital and largest city of the West Pomeranian Voivodeship in northwestern Poland. It is the 7th‑largest city in Poland and a major seaport near the Baltic Sea and the German border.

🌊 Geography & Natural Setting

Szczecin is situated on the Oder River, south of the Szczecin Lagoon and the Bay of Pomerania. The city stretches along the southwestern shore of Dąbie Lake and spans several large islands between the western and eastern branches of the river.

The city is surrounded by dense forests, shrubland and heaths, including:

  • 🌳 The Wkrzańska Heath (shared with Germany)
  • 🌿 The Szczecin Landscape Park

🌍 International Connectivity

Szczecin is the urban centre of the Szczecin agglomeration, an extended metropolitan area that includes communities in both Poland and the neighbouring German states of Brandenburg and Mecklenburg‑Western Pomerania.

With its rich historical heritage, dynamic cultural scene, and stunning natural surroundings, Szczecin provides an ideal setting for our ARTisGReen meeting – a place where art, sustainability, and international collaboration can flourish. 💚
